Elephants are just like us

Posted in Prayer and Inspiration by T.E. on the May 4th, 2008

I saw this video and just couldn’t believe it. Gave me a totally different “perception” of all life and the possibilities of the different forms of intelligence in our world.

We all accept that dolphins have a language and a higher form of intelligence. Those of us who love and live with animals know they have spirit and intelligence and beautiful personalities and souls.

This video will change the way you think about what is really happening in the world of animals — watch and let it shift your thinking in new and wonderful ways!

The Great Christmas Truce

Posted in Prayer and Inspiration by T.E. on the December 30th, 2007

I’ve heard quite a few iterations of this lovely story this season — about the Christmas Truce between German and British troops during World War I. It only takes one person to reach out and lead others to fellowship. How impossible it is for us to harm others, to choose war, when we realize by harming our brothers we truly only harm ourselves.

Instead, we can choose love.

There is a lovely post at the following site that describes this the best I’ve seen (thanks to Jodee Bock for the reference):

Gratitude and Thanksgiving!

Posted in Prayer and Inspiration, Building Authenticity by T.E. on the November 30th, 2007

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I believe one of the most powerful ways I can improve the quality of my life, work, relationships, and attitude is to be grateful, and Thanksgiving is a time when that energy of gratitude is shared openly by so many. It’s a lovely time for me, a time of reflection and a little extra giving.

There are times (often!) in my work in particular, when it is very easy to forget how grateful I am. In this new age of incredibly flexible work environments, I am blessed with a really wonderful job that allows me to work from home and travel with a reasonable frequency, just enough for freshness and not so much that I get fatigued.

But sometimes, as is my nature, and I think human nature in general, I forget. I’ll grumble and moan and my ego will get large and in charge as it likes to do, and my attitude (and therefore the quality of my work and my spiritual condition) will start to suffer.

Nothing works faster on this than gratitude. Sometimes I get very simple about it — I am grateful that I have eyes, feet, hands, all five senses. That I can breathe. That shakes me loose enough that I can expand it to my home, pets, son, friends, and begin to really connect again with the glorious abundance of life.

My ego gets quieter and smaller then ….. proportions and reactions come back to normal … or close! I see a way clear.

Gratitude is powerful. It keeps us humble, in the present, positive, connected. It is for so much more than material prosperity. In fact, that is really the least of it. It is for hope, sanity, love, peace of mind … the awareness that the most routine facts of life are small miracles, everyday blessings.

Thank you and namaste.

Sunday Inspirtuitions - Gratitude for Today

I received this video link for a wonderful gratitude video today.

Today is truly a gift, and gratitude for everything we are, every breath we take, every moment we’ve been given, is divine love in action and will bring us to a state of joy and peace.

H2O = Gratitude (2) and Love (1)

We are what we believe. Our thoughts create our perceptions, the lens through which we create our reality or worldview. In turn, our reality determines our actions. And the results of our actions reflect our beliefs!

We attract what we vibrate — what we believe. There are many books and films now that generate a great deal of attention — “The Secret” is an example of this — but remember Dr. Norman Vincent Peale? “The Power of Positive Thinking” — I have a pamphlet of Dr. Peale’s I’ve saved and hung on the bulletin board over my desk for about 15 years now — and the message is the same. Positive thinking, positive energy, positive vibration, prayer, healing, affirmations, gratitude, love, forgiveness, letting go — is a common thread running through teachings I’ve found very important in my own journey, from “The Course in Miracles” to “You Can Heal Your Life” (the powerful work of Louise Hay) to the wonderful work of Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Esther and Jerry Hicks, and many others.

Friday the 13th was an awesome day!!

Posted in Prayer and Inspiration by T.E. on the July 14th, 2007

I love Friday the 13th. I’ve always felt it was my lucky day. And today was no exception.

I’ve been wrestling with a particular spiritual issue and trying to solve it by applying intellect to it. One of the great cosmic jokes I’m particularly fond of is that spiritual problems just don’t respond to “figuring it out.” But figuring it out is what my mind loves to do!

So since my mind is mine, and changing it is a process, (losing it is an option!) — and I’ve grown fond of my mind with all its habits and ego — I’ve learned that I can pray too. And I’ve also learned that prayer takes time, practice, listening, and patience.

Today, this prayer was answered. A moment of clarity so powerful that the energy just lit me up with joy. A beautiful “A-HA”, a click, and then a rush of gratitude.

And to put the icing on this gift, it happened in the morning while I was reading, so I got to savor it all day. Writing about it now the electricity has my hair standing on end.

I’ve experienced a few of these powerful moments, and they are always life-changing. I wonder what the life-change that will evolve from this moment will be.
