A lot of people argue about whether we should just concentrate on a person's positive features. I grew up practicing what you have written in the article so basically, everybody has some sort of goodness in them. However, some friends think that I'm being too naive and trusting. My mind can have tug-of-war sessions every now and then. There is beauty in each and every one of us. A lot of people argue about whether we should just concentrate on a person’s positive features. Particularly the "should" thinking, and the need for variety to prevent boredom. I appreciate how well you laid this out, and reminded us what a huge difference self-awareness makes. You interrupted a trigger and literally transformed your life. Sometimes it's really about taking the "small" step consistently that creates the magic. It's wonderful how a slight alteration in perspective can do so much for a person. More people should really consider taking this path as well. Besides, opening ourselves up to receiving actually attracts more possibilities for us! Comment on What’s my motive? by Debbie Call http://employeenext.com/blog7/2007/09/23/whats-my-motive/#comment-11 Sun, 21 Oct 2007 19:07:15 +0000 http://employeenext.com/blog7/2007/09/23/whats-my-motive/#comment-11 Excellent and clear post on how to discern what is coming through! About 8-9 years ago I decided to join a professional group when my heart said "no" and my ego said "yes." It was a disaster. I realized too late that I joined that group because my motivation was fear. I finally mustered up the courage to leave after 7 awful months. Your advice is well-spoken and an important reminder to us all. Excellent and clear post on how to discern what is coming through! E. - you remind me that when I began blogging 2 years ago, I felt much as you did with my blog (the features I still needed to add . . .) Dick volunteered to set up a time to speak with me by phone - he helped me a great deal with concrete advice and how to prioritize what should be done in the blogging world. He was (and still is) a champion to me and to my writing. Thanks from my heart, Dick! T.
